Scholarships from the Honjo International Scholarship Foundation give the winner the following:

Criteria for eligibility Scholarships from the Honjo International Scholarship Foundation

For scholarships from the Honjo International Scholarship Foundation, applicants must meet these requirements:

• English and Japanese must be used.
• All the countries in the world are eligible. The student who is not Japanese does not have Japanese citizenship.
• In theory, a student who is going to a professional graduate school can’t apply. But students can apply if they have a plan for their research.
• For a PhD programme, a student must have been born after August 31, 1984, in order to be eligible. Student applying for master’s programme must have been born after August 31, 1989.
• The student should have a strong desire to serve in his or her home country after graduation. This doesn’t mean that they have a job lined up or that they have to go back to their home country as soon as they finish school.
• The student must know a lot about international friendship and goodwill. He or she must also go to the events put on by the foundation and join the alumni network.
• The student must be able to talk to people in Japanese about normal things. The language of the interviews will be Japanese. (no exception)

How do you apply for a scholarship from the Honjo International Scholarship Foundation?

To get a Foreign Students Scholarship, please follow these important steps:

(1) Type “web application system” into the box. Fill out the application form and upload the documents below.

• Academic transcript: I from the university where you got your bachelor’s degree AND ii) from any other classes you are currently taking or have taken in the past. If you transferred to the university, the university needs the transcript from the school you went to before. All applicants must give at least I a transcript from their first year of college. Photocopies are acceptable.
• One set of three pages with a scholarship application form, a resume, and a personal information form. Attach your photo to the application form. You can get the above forms from the site. we can type them or write them by hand.
• Plan for research: In Japanese, talk about the following four things: 1) an outline of your research; 2) a projected schedule between now and graduation; 3) plans and goals for the future; and 4) research you have done in the past (if any). 2~4 pages are preferable. You can get it typed or written by hand.

Dalhousie University Scholarships must be applied for (Fully Funded)

• One letter of recommendation from a teacher or professor. (This private letter should talk about the applicant’s academic accomplishments, personality, and future potential.) There are no rules about how many pages or styles you can use. If your former professor knows a lot about you, you can ask him or her for a letter of recommendation.
• A letter or a certificate that says you are enrolled.
  If the entrance exam hasn’t happened yet or the winners of the entrance exam haven’t been announced before you apply for this scholarship, write the date of the exam or the date the winners will be announced on the bottom of the application form. If you are already in graduate school, please bring a certificate showing that you are enrolled. (Photocopies are acceptable.)
• One letter of recommendation from a teacher or professor. (This private letter should talk about the applicant’s academic accomplishments, personality, and future potential.) • For 1, 4 & 5: Please get those papers ready in either Japanese OR English. If your documents are in a language other than English or Japanese, please send either a Japanese or an English translation.

(2) Once the documents are turned in, you will get an application number and a PDF of your application form. Please save the PDF file because you will need it when the results are posted on our website.
